Why you shouldn’t be ashamed of a one-night stand

More than 66% of people in the U.S. have had a one-night stand during their lifetime, according to a survey by online doctor and pharmacy servicer Zava.

While one-night stands evidently happen all the time, many are still burdened by the stigma that surrounds them. This stigma comes from media, religion, loved ones and non-comprehensive sex ed courses that teach sex is taboo and dangerous if not experienced with someone you’re in a relationship with. At Bloomi, we’re challenging these norms and giving you five reasons why you shouldn’t feel ashamed of your one-night stand.

You’re not looking for a commitment

Though many of us go through periods of casual sex, societal norms conflate the desire for sex with that of love and partnerships. “Many of us feel shame around having sex with people who we know are not potential partners/mates because we’re taught it’s not what we are ‘supposed’ to do,” says Carol Queen and Shar Rednour, authors of The Sex & Pleasure Book

You’re in control

At Bloomi, we aim to inspire anyone to maximize their sexual agency. Being the CEO of your body means that you are in control and navigate intimacy with intention and confidence.

Sometimes you want a human over a vibrator

Scheduling date night with your vibe is sometimes not the vibe. That’s OK! While the sex tech industry has come close to replicating human touch, sometimes that’s not enough.

You’re curious to explore your desires and needs

Sleeping with multiple people will allow you to widen your sex menu and discover new avenues of pleasure. You can try new things, ask questions about others' sexual experiences or go into the experience knowing exactly what you want and receiving it.

You get to meet new people

Think of one-night stands as networking; it’s an opportunity to meet people. In doing so, you get to learn what they’re about and discover what you’re looking for.
